The Adventure Begins...

Walking quickly, almost sprinting to the bathroom , not out of any urgent physical need , but to escape her surroundings , even if only for a few moments. The only room into which she could totally disappear for a little while , alone and undisturbed. She closed the door quickly calling out her locale to those still screaming her name. Turning inward with her back flat against the door , she closed her eyes and fastened the door latch keeping out her pursuers. She imagined herself miles away as she looked at the glistening hardware reflecting the sunlight like strands of diamonds across the tile floor.Flowing robes of burgundy and amber ; castles over lush green mountains ; skydiving across a bright blue sky , her only limits , the bounds of her imagination. Dream your adventure and live it.

Door Knockers-Michael Healy

As she approached the age old entry she noticed something she had not seen in many years. " What an unusual door knocker"She thought to herself. A butterfly in Polished silver perched upon the entrance as if it had landed there accidentlly. As her fingers nimbly reached for the handle her friend opened the door.Where did you get such an exquisete door knocker?she inquired of the woman."It is a Michael Healy." Was the reply. The choices she was told were only limited by ones imagination. A website existed where she could choose unique hardware not only for her entrance way but for all the closets and doors in her home.Living among the unusual and finding a site where creativity was boundless.... One Woman…One Kitchen

“I can’t believe anyone would ever choose avocado anything….” I thought as I flipped through the pages of the newest edition of “Modern Kitchens magazine. “Dark paneling also…..like living in a cave…uuuh..” But what is it I was now longing to change? Was it my life or just my kitchen? “Just my kitchen…” An absurd statement that would never come out of any self-respecting woman’s mouth. The kitchen is the heart of the home. The kitchen is the place where my children do their homework. Right here on my kitchen table, I bathed my son when he was an infant. My daughter has skated through here on my kitchen tile and the dog has done some nasty things that required some real scrubbing.

This room is also where I experiment and find my inner talents. I have made the most delicious meals in this room. My husband even said he fell in love with me all over again, after one of my gourmet feasts for two one evening when the kids were asleep. All right here in this room. It definitely needs to be comfortable, yes; but all my tools need to be readily accessible. I need to be able to get around easily without tripping over myself. Lots of counter space, which I will no doubt clutter-up. Maybe a built in chopping board? Or an extra sink? Yes, right here on the island in the center. Wait……I want pretty. Well, not pretty, but eye catching. Accessories? No. Jewelry for my cabinets! These knobs look like jewels! Maybe a pull, no definitely a handle of some sort. Something, which expresses what, I am all about, not plain but not too extravagant. Bold, assertive but not aggressive, am I talking faucets now or sinks? Let me see…. I really like deep sinks but stainless steel can be impersonal…look they now have copper? Two handles or one? So many choices. Oh, but I really like stainless steel, it makes me feel like Emeril…..BAM!!! Wine rack is a must so lets be sure to make sure the faucet height is just right underneath.
This kitchen needs to express ME!
“Hey, Honey…we really need to just replace the knobs on these cabinets….the kids broke one….” “Hey Honey…by the way I found some really cool pictures. Look we can even check out these websites, order right off the internet, just some little bobbles….I mean cabinet hardware.” Yes, said coolly to herself…that is the first step!
